Welcome to the
Wall Of Sheep
We bridge the education gap by providing cybersecurity education and training to the public suitable for all backgrounds and levels of experience
What is the Wall Of Sheep?
The Wall Of Sheep was built to be a fun and engaging demonstration of how information is sent across the internet and can be viewed with the right tools. For years people have come from all over to learn how to intercept and interact with the information they send out.
Who is the Wall Of Sheep?
A group of early attendees wanted to help the Wall and its place within DEF CON, and so the name Wall Of Sheep also came to refer to the related group of hackers, makers and tinkerers. Over the years we have grown into a massive herd whose focus has always stayed on education and awareness.
Every year we help tens of thousands learn and grow.

Our hacker roots are strong
The Wall of Sheep started in 2001 with some network tools, a stack of paper plates, and a good sense of humor. Since then, we’ve grown into an organization that serves tens of thousands of people per year. We have deep roots in the information security community, and are proud to maintain a well-earned reputation for education, innovation, and creating a welcoming space where everyone can learn.
Since its inception, the Wall of Sheep has been a breeding ground for innovation. Over the years, we’ve seen some amazing concepts come out of our village, including the Wi-Fi Sheep Hunt, Packet Detective and Packet Inspector, and the original Juice Jacking project. Our hacker roots are strong, and we’re proud to continue providing a space where hackers can come together to share their knowledge and creativity.

Helping
Hackers
The information security world can seem intimidating to new folks – but the secret is that most of the world’s most skilled hackers are self-taught. We believe in giving back what we’ve learned over the years, and helping the next generation of hackers learn and grow.
We also believe in the power of community. Our team is made up of volunteers from all over the Internet who are passionate about information security. Together, we work to make our events, resources, and projects the best they can be.
